Obituary taken from the Charleston Daily Courier,
dated Nov. 21, 1865.
DIED, on Thursday evening, Oct. 5th, MRS. MARY EMMA MARINES, the beloved wife of Capt. Archibald Marines, in the 35th year of her age, at the residence of Geo. H. Ware, Esq., in Marlboro Dist., S.C., where she had arrived but a few days previously to afford nature a last opportunity to rally and throw off the insidious discase which had fastened on her vitals. Thus, after a lingering and painful sickness of several months... as if to pleasant dreams and calmly and sweetly gave up her earthly life in the hope of a heavenly.
The deceased was a member of St. Stephen's Chapel. Her remains now repose in Magnolia, where all the elements are at peace and seem to whisper there " peace to the dead". With a large circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn her loss, she leaves behind a devoted husband and four beloved children, to meet those gone before, " Blessed are the dead and who die in the Lord ; even so, saith the Spirit; for they rest from their labors."
