Denita,

I would love more information about your lineage. Was your grandfather William Louis Marietta a brother of John C. Marietta (wife Harriett Lutz) who lived in Palmyra, Warren County, Iowa in late 1800's. They later , by Census of 1920, were in California. John C. , according to my records, is the son of Uriah, but I was not aware of any siblings. John C. , according to my records, was the father of Shelley.

Do you remember any more about Marie? Was she married and have another last name than Marietta? Would anyone in the family have kept her letter? I have found a Hannah Marie Marietta who never married and have full info on her. Also a lot of info on the Mariettas in Iowa and Nebraska.

You are so fortunate to have family and oral history even if you did not listen as carefully as you would now like. I have had to reconstruct my father's life from records as he left the area where he was born and settled eventually in Alabama. I never met any of his family , or even knew their names. I began this search with his birth certificate. I now know he was the grandson of the Joseph who left Penn. and settled in Iowa. Your information can really fill in some of the blanks for me.

I have tons of question , and have info to share if you are interested. Would you mind if I emailed you directly? Or would you email me directly at BethMLyons@aol.com
Thanks,
Beth
