Margolis Family Genealogy Forum

My grand parents are first generation americans. Their parents came from Poland and a small Russian island. A boat came from Europe with their parents on it and when they got to the US, customs could not understand most of what they were saying. One of the passengers had a name that sounded like Margolis and everyone on the boat was named Margolis. This is why there are so many variations to the name (spellings etc...) This was told to me by my grandmother, whos original last name should have been Kravitz.
