Do you know where my dad came from?

I hope to find where my name came from.

The Bohemian connection I am told.

Can any one conferm that the Marek name is Bohemian.
My research leans towards a Polish surname.

Any input?

Here is my dad's version

Maynard Gene Marek's version of the story.....

my great grandfather live in the chicago area.
they were john and mary schanliec marek.
My grandfather was frank marek.he married anna sticka.
my dad was edward j marek. he married leone makovec.

my grandfather had a brother wenzel live in kewaunee wi,
dr.joseph marek. mason city iowa. john marek, eau claire wi.
and my grand father frank who lived in slovan wi. in kewaunee wi. also a sister w.a.mastalirs from kewaunee wi

I would like to know doe's any body out there know these people?

My Grandma was Leone Makovec,my grandpa was Edward J.Marek. Maynard is my dad.

Is there any one out there that relates.
