I am writing in the hopes that you may provide a connection with my Marden line that is in London. I have William Marden (a green grocer) who married Jane Roberts in 1829. (I have no idea where he was born but Jane seems to have been from London. A sister of hers, Sarah, was a marriage witness and I think I have found their baptisms.
William and Jane had one son, born Dec. 1832 and baptized in Jan. 1833. Son was George John Roberts Marden and I see no other children for them. Searches of burials for William and Jane have yielded nothing. George went to Australia (as a cabin passenger) in 1848-seemingly by himself.
A researcher sent me a certificate once of a East Grinstead Marden who coincidentally was a green grocer (which is perhaps a lead).
George named his children:Charles, William John (my great grandfather), Richard Roland and Jane. When I saw that there was a Charles listed in your "tree thread", I thought I should check it out.
My own father was William Marden Link and my brother is Philip Marden Link (carrying on the family name as my grandmother was one of 4 daughters). Perhaps my brother, who will be a first time father at 46 this July, will also carry the Marden foward.
Hoping to hear from one of you.
