Hallo Christine,
although not a direct line; I have a John Marden, with wife Harriet, living at Balwyns Hill in the 1881 census. He was a brother to my Great Grandfather, Charles Marden b. 1848. Their father was William Marden, b.1798, and Lucy Gibbs. Although not completely proved yet, I think the line goes back through two Thomas Mardens, born.c.1761 and c.1740, both married to Elizabeths. Any help?
Bob.
