William Learned Marcy was the famous Statesman and one of the most noted men of his day. He was desc. from John Marcy of Woodstock, CT through his sixth son Moses( a quite notable man himself). William Larned Marcy of North Harmony, New York was desc. from Sam Marcy, seventh son of John Marcy, through William Marcy a settler in Hartland, Vt circa 1780. William had five sons who multiplied into many Marcys. A whole bunch of them went west to NW PA and NE ohio in the 1830's and thus William Larned. His family owned a lot of land and ther is still a homestead owned by Marcy desc. Betty Root Park. The orginal homestead in vermont of W. L. Marcys ancestor is also still in excellent repair. I have more info for those who need to know
