Caleb, Alfred Marcus Ancient Hebrew Book of Remembrance (Wood)

My husband has had a very old (wooden covers) book of Jewish genealogy--all in hand-written Hebrew characters. Some of the notes inside the cover say "Caleb Marcus"

We found a similar book described as part of President William Henry Harrison's mementoes on his library site as having been presented to him by an Alfred Marcus. Go to: http://www.presidentbenjaminharrison.org/2003Exhibit/Curator_exhibit_2003.htm

The book is almost idential to what we have. Inscription: Presented
by
Alfred A. Marcus
to his daughter Mary
and son [something]
In sacred memory
of his late [something] wife
[something]
Kate Marcus
[A Hebrew Date]

We are trying to determine how this fits into our family history, if at all.

Can find little or nothing on Caleb or Alfred Marcus, but Alfred Marcus' family is listed as:

daughter Mary
wife Kate and
son -- illegible.

We assume that Caleb and Alfred A are related.

Is anyone aware of this famiy, any descendants or other relatives we could query about any other relationships that we might tie into?
