Sorry, I forgot to add that Welborn & Demaris are in the 1850 North Carolina - Caldwell - Johns River Census here if you have a subscription to ancestry census images.

http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=View&r=an&dbid=8054&iid=NCM432_623-0019&fn=Welborn&ln=Marcus&pid=12613775

Mira is listed as a daughter.

An interesting piece of info on the 1860 census here,

http://content.ancestry.com/Browse/View.aspx?dbid=7667&path=North+Carolina.Caldwell.Johns+River.3&cr=-1

--where Demaris is listed as HoH, just above her is Sophia Pruett (Sophronia Marcus) with her 2 children Victoria & William. Wanna bet her husband's name was William Pruett?

On another note, Myra marcus's brother John Marcus and his wife Julia Emeline Cody in 1870 are living in Cherokee Co NC, Stecoah - Valley Town Post Office with Nancy (Penly) Marcus age 70 (b.1800), 2nd Wife/Consort of Ellis D Marcus (Father of Wilburn Marcus, and parents of Lucinda Penly (Hogue) who bore at least one child belonging to a William Pruett, possibly the same.

Why is Nancy with the grandson of her husband's first wife? Were Nancy Penley and Demaris Penley sisters or Aunt & Niece?
