Looking for the ancestors of David Marcott born abt 1823 in Canada mar. Ladorna Gilkey abt 1849 in Vermont. Ladorna was born 21 Feb 1823, the daughter of Silas Gilkey and Almira Denison. The 1850 Census places the family in Burke twp, Caledonia County, VT. Their known children: Mary Addie Marcott born 1854 in Burke twp; Fred; and Almira. David's family lived next door to Lewis Marcott age 32 born in Canada, wife Mary A. age 27 born in VT. and Joseph Rinaw age 17 Laborer. I suspect that David and Lewis were brothers.
David moved family to Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa between 1860 & 1870. Isaac Denison Gilkey (Ladorna's brother) lived in Cedar Falls.
David moved the family to Amboy twp, Cottonwood County MN. in 1878. Mary Addie Marcott married Walter Mullinex/Mullineaux in March 1870 in Cedar Falls. Addie died 01 Aug 1912.
Information in the Cottonwood County Courthouse Death Records: David Marcott died Aug 14, 1889; 67 yrs,4 mos,24 days;Married;Place of Birth, Canada; Date of arrival in Minn, 1878;Cause of death, Rhematism; He was a farmer:Parents, Joseph & Josie Marcott who were born in Canada.
