Hi Charles,
I have quite a bit of info on William Henry Marchman. He was my Great-Great-Grandfather.
My mother, Eva Merle Marchman Johnson, was the daughter of Ollie Austin Marchman and Ruth Martin. I believe in Sherry's reply, she said that Ruth married Arthur, Ollie's brother. From what I've been able to find, William Henry was quite an interesting fellow....worked for one of the largest land (and slave) owners in Alabama, and lost an arm at Peachtree Creek in the Battle of Atlanta.

Briefly, he was the son of Albert (b. 3/29/1808, d. 12/4/1862) and Nancy Turner. They were married on 7/24/1829 in Eatonon, GA. Albert was the son of Stephen Marchman (b. 1777 Edgecomb Co., NC, d. 1847 in GA) and Polly Daniel. Unfortunately, I have no information on either Nancy Turner or Polly Daniel yet.

The last link I've been able to trace in the my Marchman roots is Stephen's father, Charles Marchment(mont)(man)...I've seen it spelled all three ways. He was b. 1750 Edgecomb Co., NC, d. 1806 Edgecomb Co., NC. and was married to someone named Tabitha.

I hope this helps. If you're interested, I would be more than happy to send you my GEDCOM file that contains my Marchman roots.

Doug
