I am looking for info on my great grandparents Pietro Manzo and Maria Marchese from Stigliano. I was told that Stigliano was in Matera but immigration record on the Ellis Island web site says Potenza. They immigrated to New York on February 3, 1920. I heard a family rumor that says pietro (peter) and maria (margaret) had about 9 children that died in Italy, then they came to the US and had 4 more children. I dont know if the story about 9 children is true or not but my grandmother remembers hearing about 1 child who died when he was about 3 yrs old because he drank some poison. Peter and margaret were 28 and 27 when they came to NY. The ship manifest states they were coming to the US to stay with margarets brother Vincenzo Marchese who immigrated to NY on October 18, 1906, also from Stigliano.
