Jean, this is the only information I have pieced together so far.

Descendant information from research by Nancy Fruge and Ethel Sacker:

Zenon Marcantel, Jr. b: 1832 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, LA d: 1890 in Evangeline Parish, LA Burial: Riverside Cemetery(?)

1st wife:
+Marie Fruge b: March 11, 1833 in St. Landry Parish, LA - Op Ch v3 p263 m: 1850 in Calcasieu Parish, LA (probably divorced, Marie "Mary" moved to Liberty County, TX in 1869 and might have taken children with her)

From 1860 Calcasieu Census:
Zenon Marcantel -27-M-W--Farm-Lab.-200-La.
-Mary Marcantel -27-F-W-La.
-Felicite Marcantel -9-F-W-La.
-Odelia Marcantel -7-F-W-La.
-Louisa Marcantel -5-F-W-La.
-Rebecca Marcantel -2-F-W-La.

*2nd Wife:
+Celine Langley b: Abt. 1837 in Calcasieu Parish, LA

From 1870 Calcasieu Census:
Marcantel, Zenon, Jr. 37 M W 200 300 LA
Celine 33 F W Keeping House LA.
Zahira/Zalina 17? F W Keeping House LA
Anselme 11 M W farm lab. LA.
Lisa 4 F W LA.

*3rd Wife:
+Hyacinth Richard m: October 11, 1879

son: J. B. "Buck" Markentell b: 12-28-1879, d: 11-25-1952. Married Cambry Doucette b: 3-25-1892, d: 5-2-1958. Both buried Honey Island Cemetery, Hardin County, TX. (from book Hardin County Texas Cemeteries)

*4th Wife:
+Lovinia Johnson m: June 09, 1887 (native of Bayou Chicot)

From Terry Landreau: daughter: Susie Luni, born in Bayou Chicot

From Confederate Pension Application applied for by Mary Marcantell, (1st wife) widow, dated 8 February 1909:

Zenon died: April 21, 1907

Married: July 23, 1850 in Calcasieu Parish, LA

Confederate Service: Private, Company D, Mile's Legion, Louisiana Infantry. Enlisted April 15, 1862. Prisoner of War at New Orleans on July 21, 1863, as one who desired transportation to New York.

She resided in Liberty County, TX since 1869

Witnesses: Alfred Nugent, Odelia Frusha

Your article mentioned that Zenon Jr. served the Confederacy and this confirms that.
