John Churchill wrote in his Landmarks of Oswego County, NY, p. 499 that Cyrus Marble, born in Sherburne, NY 7 May 1808, arrived in Cleveland, Oswego co., NY in 1834. He ran the famous Marble House Hotel over 40 years. He served as town assessor and poormaster. He was also the treasurer of the Plank Road company. He married a Miss Cropsey on 25 Sept. 1831. They had 7 children. He died 26 December 1881.
According to the 1880 census for Cleveland Cyrus Marble, age 72, b. NY (both parents b. RI) living with wife, Hannah, age 69. b. NY. No others in household.
Living in the household of Maria Yates, a widow are Cyrus C. Marble, glass factory worker, age 47, b. NY with wife, Eliza, age 46, b. NY (father b. CT) & Charles Marble, age 21, glass factory worker, b. NY and Winifred Marble, age 5, b. NY.
Note the glass factory mention was probably the Union Glass Factory operated in Cleveland.
