I realize this post may be "stale" but had to post my information to see if anyone has the marriage record or other evidence that may solve a mystery.

There are actually 2 Laura A. Maranville's on the 1850 census for Fulton County. The one mentioned in the previous posts b. 1840 and another b. 1843. The one born in 1843 which shows as the daughter of Emily Maranville (head) b. 1846. Emilly was married to Jabez Maranville b. 1846 (not sure what happened yet to him). Riley P. Maranville b. abt. 1848 IL d. 1912 TN, who is in my line, was Emily (Tubbs) and Jabez's son. He is listed in the DeMaranville Genealogy book (1921-available on Google Books for free)as the only child of Emily Tubbs and Jabez Maranville as well as on a family tree on However the 1850 census shows that he was not an only child.

I also found the Joseph Barkley / Laura A. Maranville marriage record. Given the 1870 census listed, it is likely he was not married to the Laura A. b. 1843. Would anyone have any information about the 1843 Laura A.? Thanks!
