Thanks muchly for the information. I now know that my GHM's father was John, so it may be he was the one christened at Laysters 23/9/1851 (if so my DOB for him is wrong). Possibly GHM number 1 died as a child and they renamed a subsequent son GHM, who was christened in the 1860s with brothers Thos and Chas! More detective work required I think! Still a novice at this game, pse could you expand abbreviation IGI?
