I am seeking info on Marvin D. Mapes, especially when and where he died, and also where his second wife, Emeline died. Marvin Mapes is in the 1850 Gorham, NY census with his wife Calista. In 1860, he is in Hamilton, Van Buren Co, MI, again with his wife Calista & 2 children, Mary E & Francis B & Henry Smith.
In 1870, he is still in Hamilton, Van Buren Co., MI with his second wife, Emeline Gifford Snyder with Francis b. 1854 & Orville b. 1866. Emeline Gifford was married first in Ontario Co, NY to Charles Watts Snyder brother of my husband's gr.g'father John L Snyder. Charles W Snyder d. ca 1867 (I have the date but not in front of me) in Gorham, NY. By 1870, she had m. Marvin Mapes and was in Van Buren Co. In the 1880 MI census, Marion (Marvin) D Mapes was in Kalkaska, Kalkaska Co., MI with Emeline and her father Lilly H Gifford. Emeline died Jan 13, 1881 (where?)and is buried with her first husband, Chas. W Snyder in the Old Gorham NY cemetery.
