Hi Ann,
I believe Caroline's parents were Jeremiah Mapes and Sarah Ann Gear. I have traced the line back several generations and all the ancestors are listed as white in the census. I have also heard from others that there is Indian blood in that lineage but where it comes from I don't know.
I can only trace this line back two generations and connot connect it to the main line of descent from Thomas Mapes, born 1628, who was the immigrant ancestor into Southold, NY. If anyone has any information on this line I would appreciate receiving it.
