All I've seen for a John W. Manzer in Otsego Co is the following....

In regard to those in "The History of Otsego Co., New York" by D. Hamilton Hurd c.1878

John W. Manzer pg. 318, chapter on Roseboom
"Roseboom responded promptly to her country's call for volunteers to strike at the armed head of Rebellion, and many of her brave sons were offered as a sacrifice upon the altar of our country. The followin list of those who entered the service from this town, as compiled by David W. Baley:"
"John W. Manzer, enl. in Co. G, Aug 3 1862; dis. 1865."

Wondering if you know about this and if not, hope you ordered his military record. It's probably your guy as there certainly weren't many Manzers in the area that weren't related to each other.

Rebecca
