Manuels of Stokes County and Sampson County
I am trying to determine if the Manuels of Sampson County, North Carolina are related to the Manuels of Stokes County.I found a Sampson Manuel born in 1841 in Stokes Co. I thought that it was interesting that Sampson is spelled just like the county. My Manuels are from Stokes Co.They are all short, dark skinned, with dark hair and eyes. They definitely look Indian. My great grandfather was James Harrison (Harson) Manuel born in 1899 in Stokes Co.He married Nannie Belle Deering. His mother was Martha J. or A. Manuel.I don't have a father's name.Martha's parent's were Pleasant Manuel Sr. and Rebecca Tilley. The Manuel's listed before Pleasant are Philemon and William.I would love to know if there is a connection.
I would appreciate any help.
