My great-grandfather was a Mantooth, possibly Steven Mantooth. The story told in our family is that he was a Cherokee Indian who came to North Texas (Dallas area) and changed his name to Taylor. He eventually changed it again to Stevens. I would like to know if you run across anything resembling a story like this. We are really at a dead-end tracking this down. Seeing as how he changed his last name, it possible he changed his first name.

Steven Taylor
Scott Taylor (my dad)
James Taylor (my grandfather)
?Steven? Taylor/Mantooth (great-grandfather)
