Manthornes from Mill Village, NS
My grandfather was Johsua Isaac Manthorne, son of William Joseph Manthorne and Sarah Reeves. He was the youngest in the family of 10 children. His grandfather was Elisha Manthorne, spouse Mary Garhott, and Elisha was the son of George and Abial(Kenny).
My grandfather emigrated to Ontario and received his BA from McMaster University in Theology. He was a Baptist minister until he married my grandmother, a good Scot, and thereafter became a Presbyterian minister. Her name was Maggie Alexina Mulheron (I know it sounds Irish)and they had three children: Josephine Alexandra Eloise (my mom) b. 1902; William Donald Lockhart, b. 1904; and Otis Gilbert Bryce, b. 1910
If anyone out there is a cousin, from Mill Village, I'd love to hear from you.
I have been working on genealogy for over 25 years, and still have much to learn, both about the family, and about genealogy too.It certainly sounds from all the messages I've read, that we all came from the same source - William.
If only we could find out where he came from.
