Hello Barbara
I see your posting is a couple of years old - are you still intersted in Phineas Manson?
I have a Phineas Manson born 21 April 1804 in Caithness, Scotland to James Manson and Barbara Campbell. I have found nothing about him at all, so it makes sense to me that he may have emmigrated.
If it is him, he would be the brother of a 3rd great grandmother, Sutherland Manson.
