Marcia,
I don't think there is a parish named Nelathorp in Sweden. I don't see it listed in "Cradled in Sweden" and it isn't o a couple of place name cds I own. (Rosenberg, made from a Swedish book about place names written in the 1880s and Svenska Ortnamn, with modern place names in Sweden).Maybe it is a very small place, such as a farm, or maybe it is spelled phonetically.
Måns and Magnus are the same name, except that Måns is a shortening of Magnus. Therefore, to Swedes, Magnusson and Månsson are the same name. I think this may be your John. The information doesn't say where he was born but Swedish records are so detailed you can follow him backwards to find that parish name. The records were kept in the parish.
From the Emibas CD, made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country:
Post 669985
