I am doing research on the Sherrard's of Berkeley County, WV. You may find the following information of help. It is from a book entitled "The Sherrards and Daniels: A History of Two Early Mill Creek Families" regarding families of the Mill Creek area of Berkeley County, WV. Both of the families lived first in Chester County, PA before going south-west.
William Sherrard was the father of Joseph Sherrard. (No information) Joseph married Elizabeth Zuber [Seibert] in 1814 and in 1822 was commissioned a cavalry captain in the local militia. Joseph Sherrard died in 1825 and a sale of his possessions at his "residence on Mill Creek" was advertised in the Martinsburg Gazette, October 27, 1825. In 1818 Joseph and Elizabeth Sherrard had a son William. William married Harriet Daniels in 1844. William died in 1898.
The VA Marriage index lists the Marriage date for Joseph Sherrard & Elizabeth Seibert as 14 Aug 1819 in Berkeley Co.
The IGI (Familysearch.com) has a listing for Elizabeth Seibert. Born 20 Apr 1793 Berkeley, West Virginia. Parents Windel Seibert and Margaretta Mong.
The information from the Handley Library file indicating Joseph Sherrard's birth between 1764-1769 appears somewhat early for a marriage in 1814/1819. Judge Joseph Holmes sherrard was born 1801.
