Manno-Polito-Fasullo families of Sicily<Italy<Louisiana
Jack F. Manno was born in the 1880s in Italy. He came from Palermo, Sicily and immigrated to the United States in 1886. He married Josephine Fasullo and they had six children, named Frank, Louis, Joseph, Miles, Mamie, Laura, and Kelly Manno. Jack Manno lived in Port Allen in the early 1900s, but by 1920 he was a resident of Baton Rouge where he was a merchant and owned a retail store. Rumor says he was involved in bootlegging during the Prohibition Era. He died in 1943 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on his porch. He is buried at Roselawn Cemetery where most of his family is buried.
His sons were Frank, Louis, Joseph, Miles, and Kelly Manno. Frank John Manno, the oldest was born in 1905 in Port Allen, Louisiana. He married Virginia Theresa Polito in the 1920s, and they had four children. Jennie Polito Manno was the daughter of Vincent and Mary Manno Polito. Frank Manno worked at the St. Oil Company, was a bootlegger, a saloon owner, a bicycle shop owner, a contractor, and a businessman. He died in 1980 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Vincent Polito was born in 1877 in Italy. He came to America in 1904 and lived in New Orleans and Bayou Goula, Louisiana, but was a resident of Baton Rouge. His brother was Matia Polito, who worked for the railroad and died in California. He married Mary Manno (no relation to Jack Manno) and they had daughters and one son named Anthony Ferdinand Polito, who owned the Buckhorn Lounge and Bar. Vince was a cooper and worked for the St. Oil Company. Vince Polito was a bootlegger and owned a saloon. He died in 1939 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is buried at the Roselawn Cemetery.
