I'm looking for the Irish connection to my great grandfather, James Mannix, born in Ireland abt. 1843. He was a blacksmith by trade and married Rose Lyman (also born in Ireland abt. 1845). They were living in Hartford in 1870 and he had a blacksmith shop there. They had 6 children: Margaret, Sarah, Rose, Catherine, Martin and William (my grandfather). Their first child was born in Hartford in 1866. When they grew up, the girls stayed in Hartford, the boys moved to Brooklyn, New York. Rose Mannix died in 1907.
