I came across your post regarding James MANNING. I'm trying to connect him to father John MANNING from IRE to Troy, NY. In 1870 I have a James MANNING in Troy, NY with wife Marie and children Edward & Jennie. Occupation "Moulder". Then I found your James MANNING in PA with wife Elizabeth, dtr Jennie and 4 more children born in PA (Tillie, Mollie, Emma & Willie) Since the occupation was the same, I thought perhaps his first wife died and he remarried. I found an Edward MANNING living on his own in Cicero, IL who subsequently married in Illinois and died in Ohio.
I know this was posted quite a while ago,not sure if you've discovered any additional information on James MANNING. Let me know there seems to be a connection. Thanks
