Eli Manning and Miss. Jesse Wilson {marriage} Lucas County, Iowa
The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Saturday, November 22, 1879
Our old friend ELI MANNING, the popular groceryman of the city, shuffled off his old bachelor coils on Tuesday morning last, and embarked upon the sea of matirmony by uniting his hand and fortune to MISS JESSE WILSON of this place. The pleasant ceremony was performed by Rev. Robert Coles in the presence of a goodly number of the bride and bridegroom's friends. After a wedding feast the happy party took the mail train on a bridal trip to Illinois and St. Louis. They expect to be absent about a week.Long life to the happy pair.May their path through life be strewn with roses sweet and garlands rare.

TOM EWING, of Lincoln, Neb. was in the city on Tuesday attending ELI MANNING's wedding. He came down to give ELI away.Gen. W.L. ALEXANDER, of Des Moines, was also in town the same day to help give ELI a good send off.We would now suggest to TOM and the General that they pool what little affection they have left with a couple of good looking girls, and follow ELI's example -- Provided they can find the girls........
