Thanks for your response to my inquiry Ms. Moxley.Yes, the name Jarvis is very uncommon. In my research, it appears to be a family name that has been handed down from generation to generation.I have found a small number of Manning's with this name. The last was a Jarvis Manning in N.C. who died in the mid 1980's.It is an English name I'm most certain of.I also found a couple of Jarvis Manning's in census records from around New York and the Boston areas. My g-g-great grandfather Jarvis had four sons John J., James, William and Kinchen Gattlin. His wife's name was Hannah Hinson, the daughter of Caleb Hinson (b.1764 d.1845 fought in War of 1812) and Maragret ?? (b.1766 d.1867)all from N.C.I have no other information on him.Any info you could provide would be very much appreciated.
