The descendants of Oliver Perry Mann and Jeannette Moody Mann will celebrate their family history with the 12 Pioneer Family Reunion group on Sunday, September 20, 2009 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Monett City Park Casino.
Oliver Perry Mann is the son of John and Delilah Mann. John Mann came to Barry/Lawrence Co. from Indiana where he died in then Barry County about 1844-1845. Delilah later remarried and died in 1856.
Jeannette Moody is the daughter of Isaac Moody and Malinda Bonner who first came to Lawrencre County in the 1840's.
Oliver Mann enlisted to fight in the Civil War and was killed in a battle around St. Louis, Mo where he was buried at the Jefferson Street Barracks, now a National Cemetery.
The Mann family intermarried with other settler families who came to Barry, Newton, Jasper and Lawrence Counties.
These included Boucher, Bright/Brite, Cagle, Hewlett, Moody, Morris, Pruitt, Schooling, Spilman, Wood(s) and Wormingtons.
