Hi,
I working on the Mann Family of Spencer County, Indiana and of Clinton County, Illinois. The descendents of George and Margaretha Magdalena (KUFFNER) MANN.
If anyone is working on this family, I would be glad to share information with you.
I'm descended from Magdalena MANN, born 14 May 1835, Bavaria, Germany, daughter of George and Margaretha Magdalena (KUFFNER) MANN. She died 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, 20 Sep 1905 at her home in German Ridge, Perry County, Indiana. She was 70 years, 4 months and 6 days old. Buried 35 years to the day she went to Perry County. The funeral was conducted at St. John’s Evangelical Church and burial was in the church grave yard there in German Ridge.
Magdalena married 1st John LEISTNER. He was killed by horses running away with the wagon.
Magdalena married 2nd Johann Peter “John” MAIER Sep 1870. He was born 6 Aug 1826, Bechtheim, Hessen, (Hesse, Darmstadt) Prussia (Germany), the son of Johannes and Elisabeth Barbara (HELEBLING) MAYER/MAIER. He died in German Ridge, Perry County, Indiana, United States of America.
I'm also working on Clinton County, Illinois branch of the family.
John Henry MANN, born 16 May 1861, near Evanston, Huff Township, Spencer County, Indiana, son of Andreas Frederick and Katherine (LEISTNER) MANN. He died 25 May 1930, Shattuc, Clinton County, Illinois. He is buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Central City, Marion County, Illinois.
John married Nancy Elizabeth WEDEL 27 Apr 1887 at her parents home in Sandoval, Marion County, Illinois. She was born 22 Mar 1867, daughter of Herman Frederick and Wilhamenia (WHERNHART) WEDEL. She died 20 Oct 1943.
They had the following children:
1. Andrew Frederick “Fred” MANN, born 22 Jun 1888, Shattuc, Clinton County, Illinois.
Fred married Fannie Alvina NOLLER.
2. Edith Edna MANN, born 15 Sep 1890, Shattuc, Clinton County, Illinois. She died 8 Jan 1963. She is buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Central City, Marion County, Illinois. She never married.
In 1930, Edith was living with her parents in Shattuc. She was a clerk in a store.
3. Otto MANN, born 1892/93, Shattuc, Clinton County, Illinois.
Otto married Ethel ___?___ .
4. George W. MANN, born 7 Feb 1895, Shattuc, Clinton County, Illinois.
George married Elsie Marie BEHRENS.
5. Asa MANN, born Feb 1898, Shattuc, Clinton County, Illinois.
Asa married Meta ALLEN.
6. Mildred MANN, born in Shattuc, Clinton County, Illinois.
Mildred married Benjamin DIAL.
