James Mann in Leeds
I too found a James Mann marrying a Hannah Burwell in January 1928 in Leeds. Then I discovered in the 1851 census (2319/514 - 3 Upper Richmond Street, Leeds) a Hannah Mann, a widow, with four children living at home: Mathew (22), Margaret (19), Isaac (17) & Joseph (11).I got Joseph's birth certificate as he was born in 1839 which gave me his parents as James Mann and Hannah Burrell (nee Rusforth). As the eldest son, Mathew, was born circa 1929 and the names were so similar I assumed them (without proof admittedly) to be the same. The Hannah Burwell was a widow when she married James Mann, so obviously was Hannah Burrell - the two were almost indistinguishable. If they are the same family then it would appear to run: Isaac, James, James, Isaac which certainly sounds feasible. However there are no Burnetts in my family at least not to my knowledge. It's definitely three steps forward and usually one or two steps back in this game!
