Hi Kenneth,
I don't know if you have found Alonzo in the 1860 Census, but since you said that Alonzo wasn't indian, I thought I'd post this for you. The following people are listed as mulato (this means half blood with white) and since they are living in the Creek Nation, I would assume they are half indian.

Manley, Cullen 54 MM Horse trainer -/700 NC
, Alonzo 11 MM Cherokee Nation
Hellenbrand,Julian 65 FM Virginia

This census fits with what you told me about Cullen and Alonzo. I couldn't find them in the 1850 Census.
