Mannard a possible variation of Manhard?

Wondering if the surname MANNARD could be a corruption of MANHARD or MANHARDT. Our surname, in its present spelling, originated in Newfoundland. Any knowledge of Manhards in that area? I'd be grateful for any information that would shed light on this.
