Some of Arthur's descendants may not know that about two years ago we (Mangum descendants from Arthur and Penelope Mangum placed a nice headstone for them in the old Magee (Tullis) Cemetery in Magee. Family tradition is that both of them are buried in this old cemetery, not far from Hway 49 and the old Sanitorium. We noted their vital statistics and that they were one of the earliest settlers of that area and that the townd was called "Mangum" before it was changed to Magee. We had a little ceremony as we assembled there following the annual family reunion of the Mangum, Palmer, Gates, and Benton families of Simpson County. Again, the reunion will be held azt the VFW Hall on Highwayi 49 on October 25, 2002 at 10AM. Bring your favorit dish and drink and join us for some good Southern talk and visiting. Let me know if you plan to attend. John T. Palmer, PHD, author of "The Mangums of VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, TN, AR, TX, UT, and Adjoining States," 2nd edition. Notify Administrator about this message?
