Sheena,

To the best of my understanding our ancestry is from Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. In Ireland our name has a number of derivations like Manahan, Mongan, Mangan, Mannion, O'Mongain, Mangham, Mangrum, etc. There was a Thomas Mangum that sailed to the US in 1848 from Dublin aboard the steamer Agnes. And there was a James Clarence Mangan (1803-1852) from County Limerick, Ireland.

I would enjoy hearing from you, and I hope that this information id useful to your research. You may also want to try the familyhistory.com, Mangum Message Board for additional contact information.
