Henry Mangum, Jr; Henry Mangum, III; Henery Mangrum
Questions:
1) Can anyone confirm or counter hypothesis (see details below) that Henery Mangrum of Maury Co, TN in 1820 census is Henry Jr, or Henry III?
2) Can anyone provide more information on the families of Henry Jr, Henry III, Jeremiah, or any of the children of Henry Sr or Henry Jr/Briton (Britain) noted below?
3) Can anyone provide information on who the family members in household might be:1 male < 10; 1 male 26-44, 1 male >45, 1 female < 10, 1 female 16-25, 1 female > 45, 1 slave < 26; 2 in Agriculture
4) Can anyone provide information on daughters of Henry Jr or Jeremiah or other females who were or may have been living in household noted above? Some, so far, unsubstantiated but compeling information has come to our attention that would indicate Greenbery may be the son of a Mangum daughter or wife, rather than a Mangum male.
Hypothesis:
Based on information I see on various Family pages I find the following information regarding Henry Mangum(s)
The first Henry Mangum, SR b: abt 1720 Isle of Wight, VA is listed as son of John Mangum and Frances Bennett
He is noted as having children, Briton; Henry, Jr; Cathron, Richard, Ann, Samuel, John, Honour, Hearty, Martha, Goodrich, and Hannah
The second, Henry Mangum, Jr is said to have raised some or all of his brother Briton's children after Briton died. However that was later breaking information, so over the years Henry has had attributed to him the following children: Isham, Littleberry, Edwin/Edward, Charity, Jeremiah, Henry III
The third, Henry Mangum, III is said to have had no children, but to have left estate to nieces (Priscilla Mangum and Mary Mangum Brown - thought to be daughters of his brother Jeremiah)
My ancestor Greenbery Mangrum (name spelled Mangrum/Mangum depending on which census records you look at) was born in TN about 1816.The only Mangum/Mangrum I can find in 1820 Census with a child < 10, is Henery Mangrum. They are located in Maury Co, TN and some sources indicate Henry, Jr died 19 June 1827 in Maury Co, TN. I therefore suspect Henery Mangrum is either Henry, Jr or Henry III or both (2 adult males of right ages in household and Henry, Jr certainly would have been old enough by this time (71-72 yrs), that he could have been living with his son or his son living with him.
I'm hopeful someone out there can help confirm hypothesis and perhaps prove that Greenbery is child < 10 (??Grandson, Nephew??).Baring that, if someone has compeling information that proves this is a different Henry or that male child < 10 is not Greenbery, then I can put closure on this line of research and move on.
Any help would be appreciated.
