William Mangham and Willis Austin Mangham were certainly two different people. William was apparently the son of Joseph Mangum (note spelling), and Willis was definitely the son of Solomon Mangham. Evidently, Solomon and Joseph were brothers (see my book contents & index at www.mangham.org). William died in 1851 in Russell County, Alabama. Willis died c. 1861 in Pike Co., Ga., and is buried there.
William had a son named Walter A. Mangham. Willis had a son (or other close relative) named Thomas R. Mangham. Those two names correspond to some you listed.
I hope this helps.
Dana Mangham (descendant of Willis Austin Mangham).
