My direct ancestor is Johann Gottfried Mang of Trippstadt who arrived in Philadelphia on 3 Sept 1739.My brother Gary posted my father's research some time ago.Mang became Mong in the colonies. That research listed a Georg Nicholas Mang as the son of Gottfried, but my research isn't verifying that connection.
I find a Georg Nicholas Mang of Krickenbach marrying Maria Catherine Kuntz of Lemberg in Hoheinod on 21 Feb 1747.His father is listed simply as Jakob. We have a Zill Jakob in that generation, but I can't find a record of his family, if he had one, although he lived in Krickenbach.Georg Nicholas' father could be your Jakob (and possibly my Zill Jakob).I also have the grandfather as Georg Nicholas which follows right in the pattern of naming the firstborn son after the grandfather.
Georg Nicholas of the 1747 marriage, I believe, is the Revolutionary War Soldier, Nicholas Mong listed by the DAR index on page 474, but I don't have a record of his arrival in the colonies.
Would like to compare notes with anyone who has information about this time period of Mangs.
