My great great grandmother's brother- William MANG went to California from Buffalo around 1866. He was born in New York City when his parents lived there for a while before emigrating to Buffalo, NY. In probate records after William MANG Sr.'s death, he had a witness confirm his residence in California... William MANG mentioned that his birth was in NYC on Nov. 1, 1841. Also noted that he is unmarried and mentions that he is a laborer in Sacramento, California for 9 years. Had not been living in Buffalo since 1866. I have not checked the Census records of California to find out what happened to him - if he ever married out there and if he had any descendants. Would you family happen to have this fellow in your tree?
