Hi Ross, Some bits of advice and some data. Advice first: Every post here is about family trees. People who canhelp will. Putting either phrase in your Subject is like spending an extra $10 to have "Car for sale" in the heading of your classified ad for selling your car. Mine is an example of specifics. If people post answers instead of mailing you, then other people can benefit. Those others may be related. In the worst case, your 4th cousin, who has the family Bible and the sword your ancestor carried in the Civil War, will search this forum for "Alzada", not find it, because everyone who found Alzada Frost has e-mailed you instead of posting, and your cousin will go to sleep that night crying bitter tears on her pillow, thwarted again. I'm not related. I sometimes answer GF posts the way normal people do crosswords. Enough advice. If you want more, read http://www.tedpack.org/goodpost.html Here's what I found: http://vitals.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ca/death/search.cgi MANES, CHARLES L b. 05/04/1907 in NEW MEXICO d. LOS ANGELES(70) 08/24/1973 http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi has LR Culver City, Calif. 1930; Census Place: Edmond, Oklahoma, Oklahoma; Roll: 1917; Page: 1A; Enumeration District: 17; Image: 1036.0. William A Manes, 58, Ark, Tenn, Georgia, salesman for oil leases Emma A Manes, 52, Tex, Ark, Ill Troy J Manes, 22, NM, Tenn, Tx Roy C Manes, 22, NM, Tenn, Tx Leonard E Manes, 19, NM, Tenn, Tx 1920: Boone, Oklahoma, Oklahoma; Roll: T625_1473; Page: 3A; Enumeration District: 96; Image: 133. [As indexed. Note many of them used their middle names to throw people off the track. I'm a human bloodhound.] William A Mance, 48, Ark, Ten, Ga Alyada E. Mance, 42, (Emma) Texas, Ark, Ill Hugh E Mance, 16, (moved out by 1930) OK, Ark, Tx Joseph T Mance, 12, (Troy in 1930) NM, Ark, Tx Charles L Mance, 12, (Roy C in 1930) NM, Ark, Tx Lenard E Mance, 8, NM, Ark, Tx S J Frost, 72 mother-in-law, Ill, Ark, USA 1910: Inez, Roosevelt, New Mexico; Roll: T624_917; Page: 9A; Enumeration District: 175; Image: 198. [As indexed, again.] William A Maurse, 38 Emma A Maurse, 33 Hugh E Maurse, 6 Joseph T Maurse, 2 John L Maurse, 2 The transcriber did the best he could; it looks like "Mau**e" to me, where "*" is a blip. William is a farmer. They have been married for 8 years. Emma has borne 4, of whom 3 still live. Three data bases have William and Emma on http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi With their help I found William's parents in 1900 1900; Census Place: Mooney, Polk, Missouri; Roll: T623_883 Page: 1B; Enumeration District: 134. Joseph M Manes 53 Martha Manes 50 Eliga Manes 19 Elza Manes 14 Marshal Manes 10 Edger M Manes 8 Isaac W Manes 22 Florence Manes 19 Mamy Manes 1/12 but William isn't there. Without a wife, there are too many Williams to determine which one is him in 1900. This looks like Emma Alzada in 1880. 1) The birthplaces match, 2) There are just two people named "Alzada Frost" in all of 1900, 3) Her mother's name is "Jane". I'd bet the SJ Frost M-in-L was Sarah Jane. 4) Jane is born 1842, which matches the M-in-L in 1920 5) Alzada is born 1877, which matches 1910, 1920 and 1930.
