It would have had to have been his son by the same name, because 1805 from 1940 is 135 years. No one lives that long!Or maybe you meant 1840, but hit 1940 by mistake. It happens!I did see a post by Patty Russel ID #2395 under the post heading,"Found list of names 1805-1843"I just posted a reply.I am looking for Manary info, too!A geneologist told me there was a James Manary who married a Anna Snodgrass on June 23, 1840 in Sangamon County, Illinois. Then James Manary married Rosanna Pasley on April 15, 1847 in Morgan County, Illinois. If this was the same James Manary...Anna must have passed away or maybe they divorced, but I don't think they did that much back then, did they?I don't know.Rosanna was born in Tennessee in 1825 and James in Kentucky in 1825.
This same geneologist gave me the info of a Jonas Manary in the 1850 Keokuk, Iowa Census with a son James, age 17, born in Kentucky. She said she found marriages of Jonas Manary to Jane Sibert on Oct. 31, 1837 and to Rebecca Ellis on September 12, 1838 in Morgan County, Illinois. The first wife must have passed away. There was a poster who answered a query about Jonas Manary. Her name was Stacy and her email is [email protected] had a bunch of info about Jonas Manary.Hope this helps.
As for me, my great grandmother was Elisabeth Belldora Redshaw. She married Dominick Arneto Anthony, my great grandfather.
Elisabeth's mother was Emily Jane Manary whose father was born in Kentucky and her mom was born in Tennessee.I was trying to figure out who exactly these people were...Emily's father and mother.I was suspecting James and Anna Snodgrass of being her parents as Emily was born sometime around 1840 and 1841.I have seen Emily listed on census records as the wife of Joseph Redshaw and according to the ages on the census, she would have been born around those years, even though, Ancestry.com lists her birth year as 1843.I don't think that is quite accurate.
To make matters more complicated for me, my great grandfather had been married to my great grandmother's Aunt Martha, first, but she died in 1889.So, I am trying to find the marriage certificate of his marriage to my great grandmother in Iowa, as everyone has told me that is where they married. My great-grandmothers name is rather unique in that her middle name is Belldora. You would think that would stand out.If anyone has seen the name Elisabeth Belldora Redshaw, let me know! Her Mom's father was a Manary! Thanks
