Mary, If you are referring to a Rachel who was the daughter of James Miles and Joanna Garner, you are a couple of generations before the Rachel Miles I was referring to. My Rachel Miles was the daughter of James Miles (1769-) and Rachel Porcher (1771-1804). The one you are referring to was possibly his sister and the daughter of his father, James Miles, born about 1749, died before February 4, 1774, at Mt. Pleasant, Prince William Parish, South Carolina. He married Joanna Garner, born about 1749 and died 1801. It would be this line, possibly. 1 James Miles abt.1749 - before 1774 +Joanna Garner abt.1749 - 1801 2 James Miles 1769 - +Rachel Porcher 1771 - 1804 3 James Sanders Miles 1795 - 1836 +Sarah Bond Warley 1791 - 3 Mary Porcher Miles 1797 - 3 Rachel Porcher Miles 1801 - aft.1880 +William Maner 1795 -abt. 1857 3 Elizabeth Miles 1803 - +John Gilbert *2nd Wife of James Miles: +Elizabeth Smith Miles 2 Rachel Miles ? The Miles family is well-documented in South Carolina, but I am no expert on the Maner family. I have contacted a Maner descendant who is more knowledgeable about this line, so maybe there is an explanation here. Dorothy Notify Administrator about this message?
