Dear Robert: I am related to Maria Lishman Marsden Bickley Manders Watson through Thomas Watson her third husband. Her father was William Marsden although he and her mother never married. Her mother married James Jack somewhere along the line, but I have never found any information on that marriage. I talked to a lady many years ago who told me about Thomas Mander taking his own life and she told me it was in a newspaper in St. Louis. I cannot remember her name, but she told me she would send me a copy of the article. She never did and I would love to have a copy for my files. Interesting, isn't it that Maria would marry three times and all to "Thomas". There have been many stories about her parents....one being that William Marsden was from a higher class (as in a factory owner's son and a worker's daughter) and therefore they could not marry. I have also heard the story that she was a "kept woman". No one knows how these stories get started. I know an English researcher said the first theory could very well be true as this did happen in those days. I have gone back from Maria to Sarah Lishman born 1789 to John Lishman born 1767 married Mary Myers; to James Lishman 1734 married Margaret Robinson to her parents Edmond Robinson married to Mercy Wilson. Mary Myers whose parents were Christopher Myers 1713 married to Susan Muckelt. Cannot remember her father's name but then, if I remember right (don't have my records here) it goes into a Thomas who married Ellen Crosfield; to Richard or Robert who married Isabel Barricke to Richard who married Ann???? Would love to have any information you have on this line...would be more than willing to pay for it especially verification of names, dates and places. I will gladly send you what I have on the line. Will look forward to hearing from you Lois Notify Administrator about this message?
