I too, am a decendant of Hiram Mancil, Sr. My father is Noah (1905 - present of Coffee County, GA) son of Henry (Jan. 26, 1869), son of Hiram Mancil, 1837 (and Elizabeth Durham), son of William Mansell (1805)and Millie Rodgers, son of Edward Mansell (1775). This is about as far back as I have been able to go. I do have some additional information regarding Granny Betts Mancil (Elizabeth Durham).

Does anyone have the country of origin? I found some Mansells in the United Kingdom (Glouchester County).

Does anyone know why the spelling of the name changed (Mansell - Mancil)? Was it because of the family split which sent Edward, Jr. and later brother William to Texas?
