I am NOT related to this family but while researching my family in Lowell, Middlesex Co., MA I noticed several MANAHAN's who were from Ireland. This was mostly during the 1860's, 70's and 80's. Lowell having been a very large mill town from the 1830's on had a lot of immigrants there from all over. Some of the Census' I browsed for Lowell had 29 different districts each one consisting of 50 to 100 pgs. each!! It took me over a week to go through the city of Lowell alone. Some districts were mostly Irish immigrants, while others were nearly all Canadian. I have also seen the surname Manahan in Maine and NH as well as the mid-west.
I have a dear friend with this last name so it always catches my eye when I see it.
I hope this helps some of you to find your immigrant ancestors and family.
