This information is from a letter written by my great-great grandmother, Alwilda Betsy May Brown Maltman.
Joseph Maltman the third was born in Edinburgh, Scotland (date unknown, but probably 1780 - 1790) came to Canada and married a Miss Woods. He was a cabinet maker. Had 2 sons and one daughter.
Peter Maltman married Elizabeth Norton.
John Maltman "went out west and they never heard no more of him"
Catherine married a May.
Peter and Elizabeth had nine children:
Dan, a farmer, never married
Ellen (she couldn't remember her married name) died young
Olive (married a Van Horne)
Grace never married
Joseph married Alwilda Betsy May Brown in 1906
Fred, Joseph's twin, married Theresa Lynch
Maude married William Brown (brother to Alwilda).
I can't figure out the rest, because it's all mixed up with Van Horne information and I can't tell if she's talking about Maltmans or Van Hornes. There may have been a Peter and William Maltman in that generation. And she didn't give any dates until she listed her own children.
Can anyone shed light on any more of this? I'd really like to know more about the Miss Woods who married Joseph.
