Maltby Research
I am writing a scholarly book about three Maltby brothers originally from Ashtabula, Ohio. Jasper Adelmon Maltby (1826-1866) is the best known, having been a Union officer (brigadier general) during the Civil War. He had settled in Galena, Illinois, and worked as a gunsmith. Henry Alonzo Maltby (1830-1906) became a newspaper publisher, the Ranchero, first in Corpus Christi and later Brownsville, Texas. The youngest brother, William (1836-1880) also became a newspaper publisher in Corpus Christi. He served in the Confederate army. Their two sisters married brothers, surname Barber. Their father, David Maltby, orginally from New York, was a lawyer and also an ordained minister. Are there any readers who might have letters, journals, pictures, or anything that will add to my knowledge of these men and their families?
