On Automated Genealogy, the 1851 New Brunswick Census, I found a Bridget Hayden, 9 years old, living in Newcastle Parish, Northumberland County. Her parents are Basil (40 yrs.old) and Johanna (32 yrs.old)Hayden.He was from Ireland and immigrated to Canada (New Brunswick) in June 1838.At the time of the census, he was a labourer. They have 3 other daughters: Anastatia (7 yrs.old), Mary (5 yrs.old), and Nancy (who must have been just born).
The only other Haydens I find on the 1851 census are Margaret Hayden (26 yrs.) and her daughter, Elizabeth (7 yrs.).They are Irish and immigrated to Canada in 1843.It doesn't mention Margaret as being a widow yet when I look at the original census form, it could be a 'W' beside her name and not a 'M'.
Your Haydens may have made their way to the U.S. - many did.You could check Maine, initially, to see if they went there ... or they may have gone to otherparts of Canada(altho' unlikely) - try Nova Scotia or P.E.I.
Sorry I couldn't find anything more substantial for you.Good luck finding Bridget.Oh yes, I do not find a Bridget Maltby or Malby.
Take care.
Heather
